Peter Mokaba Stadium

The Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane stands to represent the history of South Africa. The stadium is named after Peter Mokaba, a man who rose and fought against South Africa’s apartheid regime. The city of Polokwane was home to Peter Mokaba, who is still loved and respected for the role he played in the revolution against the injustices that once plagued South Africa. The Peter Mokaba Stadium now stands tall in honor of the memory of the iconic Peter Mokaba.

Work on the stadium began after taking into consideration the fact that Polokwane had become a FIFA World Cup 2010 host city. Didier Drogba participated in the crucial CAF African Cup of Nations qualifier between Côte d'Ivoire and South Africa. South Africa went on to win this match 2-1.
